Our commitment to accessibility
The team at Optilase Eye Clinic is committed to making our services, our clinics and this website accessible to everyone.
This page sets out what we do today and how to reach us if you need information in a different format or come across something we can improve.

Eye care with you in mind
Accessible eye care means our services and treatments being available to everyone, whatever their physical, sensory or cognitive needs. We work to create an environment that is inclusive of all abilities and that caters for additional needs such as literacy, neurodiversity, reduced mobility and sight loss.
Our clinical and patient care teams are trained on our accessibility policy, so they are ready to support patients with a range of additional needs, including language barriers, sight loss and hearing loss.
Coming for an eye assessment or surgery with a disability or an additional support need can be daunting. From your first consultation through testing, treatment planning, the procedure itself and aftercare, our team is here to guide you. If there is something that would make your visit easier, tell us before you come and we will arrange it where we can.
Accessible information
We want every step of the patient journey to be clear. If you would find it easier to receive treatment information, consent forms or aftercare guidance in another format, such as large print or read aloud to you at the clinic, ask any member of the team and we will arrange it.
This matters particularly in eye care: the people we treat may find standard print hard to read, which is often why they are coming to us in the first place.
If English is not your first language, or you need additional language support, we can point you towards a trusted third-party interpreter service so you have the information you need throughout your treatment.
Accessing our clinics
Our clinics differ in their layout and access arrangements. Several are shared or satellite locations, so what is available at one clinic is not always available at another.
If you have reduced mobility, use a wheelchair, or need any other support to attend, please contact the clinic you are booked into before your appointment. The team will tell you exactly what to expect and arrange whatever help they can on the day.
You can find the address and phone number for every clinic on our clinic locations page.
Our locations
We have ten clinics across the island of Ireland: Carrickmines and South William Street in Dublin, plus Athlone, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Dundalk, Newry, Belfast and Derry.
Having clinics in more places means most patients can attend consultations and follow-up appointments closer to home, with less travel around the procedure itself.
Our website
We build this website to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We test every page in our sitemap against those rules with automated accessibility scanning and fix the failures we find. Steps we take to make it easier to use:
The typeface is Lexend, designed to improve reading speed and reduce visual stress.
Layouts adapt to mobile, tablet and desktop, and content can be zoomed to 200% without breaking.
Every interactive element, including navigation, dialogs, forms and the cookie banner, can be reached by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
A skip link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump straight to the main content.
We use semantic HTML and ARIA labelling so screen readers can announce the page structure.
Text and background colours are chosen to meet the contrast ratios the guidelines require.
Automated testing catches a great deal but not everything. It cannot judge whether a description makes sense, or whether a journey is easy to complete. If something is hard to use, please tell us.
