Your Laser Eye Surgery journey with Optilase – This is what it looks like
So you’ve bitten the bullet – no more contacts or glasses, next step is Laser Eye Surgery, great vision awaits! You’ve done your research too, you’re going to have your procedure carried out at Ireland’s No.1 Eye Surgery Professionals, Optilase.
But what will your Laser Eye Surgery journey look like? Here we run through the time that you’ll have with us at Optilase as you move towards greater vision.
Our initial assessment is all about finding out if you are a suitable candidate for Laser Eye Surgery. During this free assessment one of our Optometrists will carry out a series of eye examinations to find out your suitability, and then based on the results they will then explain in detail the processes involved and answer any questions you may have. The whole assessment just takes around one hour to complete, and then it’s onto the next step which is organising a pre-operative consultation with your surgeon.
At the consultation you will meet your Surgeon who will carry out a further eye exam and give the final approval required for surgery to go ahead. Then they’ll talk you through the technical aspects of your laser eye surgery and resolve any additional questions or queries.
Following this, our administration team will go through all of the necessary paperwork with you and set up payment details before confirming the final date and time of your procedure.
Your Laser Eye Surgery Procedure
Understandably, you might feel nervous on the day of your laser eye procedure but, at Optilase, you can rest assured you’re in the safe and capable care of our team, consisting of your consultant ophthalmic Surgeon, nurses, laser technicians and other professional support staff members. We’ve been carrying out Laser Eye Surgery on our customers since 2003, and we’re a highly recommended and experienced team, so there is no need to worry.
On the day of your surgery it’s a good idea to bring a close friend or family member with you for some support. Your laser eye treatment takes, on average, seven minutes per eye. It’s a very short procedure but one with a lasting, life-changing outcome.
Following the operation, you can relax while our nurses explain everything about the aftercare programme. They’ll give you a post-operative information pack containing eye drops and a schedule of when to take them. This will also include our 24 hour patient helpline number should you need any more information or help.
