Ellen Bonner, age 25, Optilase Q&A
Ellen Bonner, a professional dancer, underwent LASIK laser eye surgery with Optilase Clinic back in September.
We recently caught up with her to find out what she thought of the whole laser surgery experience: and also, of course, to see how she’s enjoying life without glasses and contact lenses:
What made you want to go for laser eye surgery?
Well, I’ve worn contact lenses and glasses my whole life and it really affected my career in dancing. Contact lenses in particular were always a real hassle; even just always having that nagging fear of a lens problem during a performance, used to stress me out!
So I really just got to the point where I wanted a life free of glasses and contact lenses! And fortunately, my friend had already undergone laser surgery with Optilase and highly recommended them to me so that was it really.
How did you find the surgery itself, was it what you expected?
It was much better than I had expected to be honest! The staff were so professional and so friendly that I felt completely at ease from the second I arrived in the door on the morning of my surgery. It was all very chilled!
How long did the procedure take?
Ooooh, that’s a tricky one! From what I remember I think it was roughly 5 minutes per eye, does that sound about right?
(*Optilase: Not bad at all – it actually takes around 7 minutes per eye so pretty close!))
How long did you take off work after the procedure?
Luckily I happened to be off work at the time anyway so it was the perfect time for me to have the treatment.
Would you recommend us?
Definitely! And I’m not just saying that because you’re in front of me either! Seriously, the whole experience was great so I would definitely recommend Optilase to anyone.
Would you have any advice for people who are thinking about having the surgery?
Just to go for it really! It’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever done and my whole experience with Optilase, from the first consultation through to the aftercare, was amazing.
Honestly, I’m so happy I went for it so my advice to anyone who’s even half thinking about having it done would be to go for it: you won’t know yourself, it will completely change your life!
